Everyone nowadays seem to go to extremes to either drive home their viewpoint or suggest that everybody else in the globe is wrong. cheers for your concise and relevant insight.

AsalamuAlaykum. I can't believe there's a price tag now to the shows I enjoyed listening to for so long. I do understand that the show-hosts need to be paid, but I also believe that there can be other ways. You guys can attract advertising on your blog/website and pay your employees out of the revenue generated from that. Because I believe that the move to charge for access to content is certainly going to decrease your popularity - there can be a premium option available to those who want access to extra content, but the majority of the content should be available for free, shouldn't it?

I just recently came across your radio station, and I am in love. you guys are doing an amazing job! I also have a request, i am not sure if you guys have already talked about this issue, but can you please touch on the generation gap that we have with our parents, and how we are not on the same page with them all the time, because we were raised in a complete different culture than them. and how most of them expect us to marry people from "our" country. I feel like a lot of our generation suffers from this. Can you guys PLEASE talk about this.

AsSalaamuAlaykum. Im from Australia Tonight I was listening on the
one legacy radio online- about an emotionally intense topic of backbiting and the story of the two Muslim brother.
I was so drawn into this topic but unfortunately it cut out and I lost that lecture. Please I would truly appreciate it if I could be sent a link podcast or something to revisit where it cut off. Backbiting Pt 1 17.02.12. -
    Many thanks.

As salamu alaikum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

I love OLR, especially this show, Hosai and Noreen are awesome but the last few months I have been unable to catch any of the live shows or the repeats. I have listened to all of the older podcasts, some repeatedly Alhamdulilah, and have really benefited may Allah reward all of the OLR team. I noticed some of the recent live shows were not put into podcasts, when I get a year subscription InshAllah will the new shows be available to listen to at any time?

    Shukran, Gracias, and Thank You!

    Warmest Salams,
    Samer

    Dear Khudakileye,

Asalamu `alaykum sister. Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate you bringing this issue to light. I just reheard the podcast to make sure of exactly what I said and I realize that my words could have easily been misinterpreted and for that may Allah (swt) forgive me.

In no way do I encourage that sisters unveil to every single suitor or a`uthubillah remove their hijab altogether to please a suitor. My intention was only to point out the fact that this is a situation that has come up a lot in modern times and that perhaps in certain situations the fatwa in question could be used.

From my understanding there are scholars from the Hanafi and Hanbali schools that support the fatwa as well as those who do not. These differences in opinion are perfectly legitimate and allow for the individual Muslim to use their discretion in which opinion they choose to follow.

Obviously, it is up to the mahram of the sister if this is something they are comfortable with allowing so sisters should defer this decision to them and NOT take it upon themselves. Everything has to be done with the permission and in the presence of the mahram.

Once again, jazakiAllah khayran for bringing this issue to light. May Allah (swt) forgive me for not clarifying my statements properly.

    Sincerely,
    Ws,
    Hosai

    ASA,

I generally absolutely LOVE this program but I have been soooo disappointed by sr. Hosai this time about unveiling hijabis sisters for their suitors before marriage. I cannot believe how one single fatwa could go over the ruling of Allah not to unveil in front of their non-mahram!

I'm sad to hear such people with such an influence and impact to advise sisters to do such things to please the eye of their suitors risking to displease ALLAH by disobeying his ruling over the hijab (for instance).

I would stay on this website and refer to sr Yasmine M and her article about "Allah will hook you up".

If there was anything Allah didn't plan, would it ever happen? So?!
No matter how much attractive you may look, veiling or unveiling your hair, doing whatever you're doing to attract a suitor or please your suitor, nothing happens without the will of Allah.

So sisters hook up with Allah and Allah will hook you up!

ps: my personal example, every single married sister (my friends) used to find "flaws" or "patterns" I may have which would "stop" me form getting married: being involved islamically, being too busy, not having my family with me living alone in a city, etc, etc... my situation has not changed for a bit but their talk and harassment hurt me so much -my considerations weren't going through and thought I was doing something wrong- that I literally stopped looking and tried to get closer to Allah.

Ramadan passed and subhanAllah, inshAllah I will be getting married with the most amazing person next year.

Do not under-estimate the Power and Wisdom of Allah. Do you best within the ruling of Allah then rely on Him.

May Allah make it easy for you.

ps: besides that, the program is good mashAllah :)but should be VERY careful when saying certain things.
May sisters stop wearing hijab because of this, being misled that it would attract more suitors.
